Lets say it was all for the kids

With the extreme cold temperatures and the reactor still down at the power plant the ice is forming on the main channel on pool 4 for the second time this year.   With that being said Marty and I still headed out to catch some fish for the kids day fishing expo they have in new Prague this Saturday.

We started the day out searching hard for some fish that would cooperate with these cold temperatures well we got a few in one spot that we used the camera in but not the size we were looking for.  We then went on another search and found a few nicer sized fish that would cooperate.  However they were not hitting with aggression so using the right rod seamed to be critical.   I was using the limit creek LCS510 MLF.   I have really turned onto these rods this fall for my vertical jigging.   They are very light rods with great sensibility and good back bone to them.  That's the third rod from limit creek rod company that I have learned to really put into my collection of tackle to produce fish.   My next step with this rid will try and Dubuque rig with it this spring.

The water temperature was 33.6 degrees today and the flow is still running around 13000 cfps.   Which for this time of the year both of those readings are the reason why fishing is so different this winter.   For anyone heading out this weekend be extremely careful there are several ice chunks float down river so keep your eyes open in front of you. And remember to drain your trailer after launching

good luck out there guys and gals !!!!!
